Shuttle Endeavour

When I wrote my 40 by 40 list I knew there would be "bonus" experiences that I couldn't possibly know would come along.  This week the Space shuttle Endeavour took his final flight from Cape Canaveral, FL to what will become its final resting place in Los Angeles at the California Science Center.

First glimpse of Endeavour riding piggyback on a 747 with the escort of 2 fighter jets.
The weather wasn't exactly cooperating in Santa Monica for this once in a lifetime photo-op.

There were people standing on the rooftops of the surrounding buildings cheering.  Word has it that traffic stopped on several freeways and people were getting out of their cars to catch a glimpse.

Endeavour flying back over Santa Monica en route to Hollywood. The clouds decided to part and presented a beautiful back drop... :)

"Endeavour flew 25 times, traveling more than 122,000 miles and accumulating 299 days in space."

"....and I'm proud to be an American!!...."

I couldn't help it.
